SMI2G 2020

Congratulations for the huge success of the SMI2G MEETING 2020

Held on the 29th and 30th JANUARY 2020 at the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL) in Brussels, the SMI2G counted with almost 400 participants (out of more than 500 registrations).

The SMI2G is organised by EARTO, Seren4 and EOS, in collaboration with the IMG-S, ECS and the support of ENLETS.

The IMG-S is proud to support and contribute once again to make the SMI2G event a huge success !

The event in 2020 will focus on the H2020 Work Programme 2020 for the “Secure Societies – Protecting freedom and security of Europe and its citizens”. All delegates are invited to present their proposals and ideas for each topic of the Work Programme which are open in 2020. The delegates will get the opportunity to receive feed-back from practitioners in a dedicated roundtable, to discuss lessons learnt and what to expect for the future of the EU Security Research programme.

The interactive sessions will be divided into two “strands”: project presentations and brokerage meetings. The interactive sessions will be organised in 7 main thematic areas:

  • Protecting the infrastructure of Europe and the people in the European smart cities

  • Border and External Security

  • Disaster Resilient Societies

  • Fight Against Crime and T errorism

  • Artificial Intelligence and security

  • General Matters

  • Digital Security

Each session will include the following 3 steps:

    1. A short presentation of the theme and a walk through the topics that are covered.

    2. Short presentations of contributions for new proposals by the delegates. Priority will be given to presentations by potential coordinators.

    3. Brainstorming and networking on new project ideas and consortia in dedicated groups. During this “brokerage part” of the event, participants are able to meet other interested delegates and discuss their ideas and try to form a consortium.

About SMI2G

As in previous years, the Security Mission Information & Innovation Group (SMI2G) is organising a two-day event in Brussels to discuss on the upcoming 2020 Secure Societies calls of Horizon 2020.

This brokerage event will provide a unique networking platform to stimulate innovative ideas and facilitate the creation of consortia. All security topics will be represented.

This event will be held on Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th January 2020. This year the SMI2G is kindly hosted again by Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL) in Brussels.

Don't miss out on this excellent opportunity to expand your network and find partners for your proposals!

ABOUT SMI2G

The SMI2G focuses on the features of Horizon 2020 (H2020) with the view of exchanging information on the Secure Societies calls to stimulate networking and consortia building. The objective is to give the delegates the opportunity to create ideas and find partners for each open research call of the EU security research programme.

The first meeting was held in 2004 with the first call of the preparatory action on Security Research. Today, the meetings attract over 400 delegates, representing SMEs, Practitioners, Research & Technology Organisations, Academia and Industry from all EU MSs and associated countries.

The event in 2020 will focus on the H2020 Work Programme for the “Secure Societies – Protecting freedom and security of Europe and its citizen”. Furthermore all Topics addressing the Focus Area “BOOSTING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE SECURITY UNION" will be discussed. All delegates are invited to present their proposals and ideas for each topic of the Work Programme which are open in 2020. Security practitioners are explicitly invited to present their specific needs and the delegates will have the opportunity to discuss their proposal ideas with the practitioners attending.

We look forward to meeting you in Brussels!

With kind regards,
